Georgius Bonsack,

the Generalsuperintendent in Celle

1570 was appointed Georgius Bonsack from the duke of Braunschweig and Lüneburg, Wilhelm junior, in the duty of the Generalsuperintendet in Celle.

Although he, after his studies of theology in Rostock, was a student from Melanchthon and Luther in Wittenberg, he tried to evade this responsible duty.

He has hesitated in conforming the call of the duke very long (3/4 year!).

He executed this duty from 1571 until 1583, in the time of hot fights between the Christianity and the Catholicism (Augsburger Religionsfriede 1555: cuius regio, eius religio).
His place of effectiveness was the early-Protestant castle church in Germany (the left picture) in the castle of Celle (picture right hand).

In 1589 he died in the duty of a Superintendent in Bardowiek "placide", that means in peace.
